Who are you and where are you from?
We are Amber Run (Joe, Will, Tom and Henry), and we are formed in Nottingham, but we’re from around London.
Who are your favourite artists from home?
There are some really exciting new bands that we’re all huge fans of – Flyte, Island, Seafret, FOURS. The list is sort of endless, so that’s great.
What’s it really like touring?
It’s the best. Pretty intense and taxing, but the most gratifying thing you can do when you’re in a band. Playing shows and meeting fans, there is nothing that beats it.
What’s your favourite city/town/venue to play?
It is absolutely impossible to pick a favourite. London shows are always the biggest, so there’s that. Nottingham shows are like homecoming shows, so it’s always phenomenal – playing our favourite venue Rock City was a particularly special moment. We love playing everywhere.
What’s your ideal festival line-up?
There are hundreds of bands of festival bills now – we’re gonna go with headliners of Radiohead, Brand New and The National.
What has been your biggest achievement of the year?
Well even getting our second album out at all was a big achievement – we came very close to calling it a day. Then selling out over 2000 tickets in London at the Forum off the back of that was a real moment for us.
What has been the worst moment of the year?
Let’s not focus on the negative.
What was the worst piece of advice you were given?
“You shouldn’t go and play shows across Europe straight away” – it is an extremely important thing that we have only just got started on, because we were told to wait.
What do you do to relax?
Cook, ride bikes, play football.
What are you reading?
Shögun by James Clavell.
How about TV, anything good on the box?
Premier League has started again, that’s all that matters.
Do you have a favourite YouTube video?
Yes absolutely. Search “Bear Falls Into River While Crossing” – you won’t be disappointed.
What website do you visit most?
Me (Tom) personally, probably BikeExif. It’s a custom motorcycle blog.
What is your favourite:
High Violet – The National
‘Africa’ – Toto
Easy Life/Dine Alone
Who is your favourite current artist?
Well it’s gonna be one of Radiohead, Brand New and The National really.
A new artist that you are most excited about?
As said before – Flyte, Island, Seafret, FOURS, many more…
What was the last great gig you have seen?
We were lucky enough to see The Maccabees at there farewell London show – that was a fantastic experience. I saw Cage The Elephant perform an acoustic gig at the Union Chapel, that was special.
That we’ve seen or played? Not gonna mention either. We’ve played some absolute shockers over the years.
What should we expect from your Irish shows?
We take a lot of pride in our live show, and put a lot of energy and passion in to our performances. Expect the best night of your life.
