The Belfast duo of Danny Todd and James Smith are certainly no strangers to critical acclaim and creative output – as Cashier No.9, the pair carved out a particularly strong following with 2011’s To The Death Of Fun. Alas, there had been something distinctly lacking in the NI scene since they moved on from Cashier, but it has now been revealed that Todd and Smith have been working on new project exmagician and are set to release a debut EP, again through the most-excellent Bella Union. Kiss That Wealth Goodbye is out on November 20th but is preceded by the brand new single of the same name and it’s magnificent. Dark, fuzzy and anthemic, the swirling melodies are reminiscent of BRMC and we can’t wait to hear what else exmagician have in store. You can catch the band live for their first ever performance under their new moniker next Friday, November 13th at Lavery’s Belfast, costing just £5 on the door, and all the finer details can be found here.
