While it’s a given that traditional music will always be part of the Irish culture, it rarely seems to step outside of its own world. Whereas the the young bucks on the UK and US scenes have found themselves an alternative audience, their Irish colleagues have largely been preaching to the converted. Limerick / Sligo quintet Moxie might just reverse the trend however. While they don’t mess with tradition, their energy and attitude has already found themselves sharing a stage with the indie and electronic crowd at Whelan’s Ones To Watch – where they came across as a breath of fresh air. With a successful Fundit campaign under their belts, next stop is an eagerly awaited debut album.
Moxie play Cork Opera House tomorrow (Friday 14th)
