Who are you and where are you from?
Four spritely boys from a concrete jungle where dreams are made, aka sweet Basingstoke in Hampshire.
Who are your favourite artists from home?
The scene is pretty different where we live, there are quite a few metal/punk-pop bands floating around who do their own thing which is cool. There are also a lot of tribute acts… hmmm I think East 17 played our local snooker hall once and they were coked off their t*ts. That was something special, to see how far they had come an all.
What’s it really like touring?
Morning rituals of throwing up in a dingy alley somewhere, service stations, someone getting a sore throat/cold, playing decent venues.. and just loads of FUN!
What’s your favourite city/town/venue to play?
Manchester is always a crazy night, before during and after the show, to be honest anywhere up north is great, but then so is London!! Favourite venues? hmm I’d say The Lexington or Sebright Arms in London so far!
What’s your ideal festival line-up?
Ahaha do you mean headliners? Ermmm Daft Punk, East 17 & Tame Impala
What has been your biggest achievement of the year?
Making a record overseas was a pretty big deal, and it’s a pleasure to be promoting it right now with EP Launch at Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen on 3rd March, we can’t wait! Maybe selling out The Lexington or playing the Great Escape for last year. There are honestly too many to choose from?!
What has been the worst moment of the year?
So far as in 2016… Bowie passing. He was a big deal for us.
What was the worst piece of advice you were given?
‘Get into the music industry as soon as you can boys, it’s still all sex, drugs and rock and roll’….It’s not, Grandparents are the biggest liars of them all.
What do you do to relax?
Any form of spa treatment, cucumbers on the eyes, chamomile tea bags, and leave the rest to your imagination.
What are you reading?
Not too sure who reads out of all of us, I think Joe likes the New Scientist and Mike is reading Stephen Fry’s The Stars’ Tennis Balls at the moment.
How about TV, anything good on the box?
Netflix is always a good shout, love the documentaries! I think someone was digging that Doctor Foster at one point… anything BBC drama or Channel 4 documentary related is usually good.
Do you have a favourite YouTube video?
Damn, there are just too many! Ainsley Harriott is a regular in the search bar.
What is your favourite:
Now that’s what I call music!
Track 5 from Now that’s what I call music!
Lost classic song?
East 17 – ‘Stay Another Day’
Whoever signs us first!
Who is your favourite current artist?
A new artist that you are most excited about?
What was the last great gig you have seen?
Difficult for all of us to agree but we played with Songhoy Blues at The Barfly in London last year and that was seriously good as they had literally just been signed to Transgressive I think.
One of our first London shows, we played with a band called ‘LIGERS’ not sure if they are around anymore? But this was before we discovered tuners, three of us trying to tune together in a tiny toilet, I think during the show we all knew we were all so incredibly out of tune and just wanted it to end! We’ve now got tuners!
Habitats’ new EP Jungles is out now.
