Nas Celebrates Illmatic and talks new studio album in 2014

In celebration of the 20 year anniversary of Nas‘ legendary album Illmatic, the Queensbridge MC has confirmed that the album will be reissued with special edition goodies for his fans. He said “We’re putting together a concert. And I think we’re going to do something with the album and repackage it with special stuff. I think that’s in the works”. 2014 looks set to be an interesting year for Mr Jones as he also plans to release a brand new studio album. The as yet untitled project already has Nas gushing about his own creative process. Speaking about the record he said “With this record …it’s the next chapter in myself as a writer,” he added. “I’m really excited about every new leaf I turn. Every new endeavor. I’m excited about that and all the potential that comes with everything new thing that I do. And all my ideas can come to fruition. And that excites me, because there’s no limits to what I can do, in terms of trying to be an inspiration. I just want to do well for the listeners out there. Do well for the whole genre. So I’m excited”.

Danny Brown Dublin show

January seems to be a quiet month on the hip hop gig front so the next gig worth sticking into the phone’s diary is Danny Brown on February 25th 2014. The Motor City native hits the stage at the Academy for what should be a fantastic gig. Brown’s critically acclaimed concept album Old was one of the most talked about of the year so tickets are bound to sell fast. Tickets are available now from the usual outlets.

Birdman Addresses Rift With Drake

The Young Money / Cash Money label head Bird Man says he has nothing but love for Drake in a recent interview and has denied rumours of rift between the MCs. On signing Drake to the YMCM label, he says “I thought he was a very talented young man so we saw a future with him and we wanted him to be comfortable, but at the end of the day Drake made the decision of where he wanted to be, love him man and don’t believe everything you hear”. Birdman also denied that Drake dissed Kendrick Lamar on his track ‘The Language’ taken from his album Nothing Was The Same

Pusha T Warns Fans Of Meet & Greet Scam Via Twitter

Pusha T recently used Twitter to warn fans about a promoter who was allegedly advertising fake meet and greets with him. The Bronx born MC took to the social networking site to make his fans aware of the scam saying “I love my family (not fans) too much to ever charge them 75-100 dollars for a meet and greet. I don’t charge family to meet me…you buy my albums, you come to my shows…you’ve done enough. I’ve never been that petty to charge to meet you. I’ve been broke, I’ve robbed, even kicked in houses…I never wanna see that side again, trust me, I’d never rob a fan for 100 dollar money”. Pusha makes no bones about his own criminal past explaining recently that he had no “good reasons” for hustling.Mine was just built off of greed, wrong decisions and wrong choices,” he said. Well, at least he’s honest about it.
