Who are you and where are you from?
I’m Iain Morrison. I was born on the Isle of Lewis, Scotland.
What’s it really like touring?
It’s a privilege to be able to travel and then play music. I prefer playing shows with friends though, you can sometimes get weary playing shows on your own.
What’s your favourite city/town/venue to play?
I really enjoyed playing the Union Chapel in London, lovely space. The small old library on the Isle of Iona was a great place too. Both of those spring to mind.
What has been your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting the album released.
What was the worst piece of advice you were given?
Cut your hair.
What do you do to relax?
Run, smoke..I quit smoking though so I’m currently not so relaxed. I used to surf a lot and that was relaxing but now I don’t live so close to the sea..I think I may have to move to cope with the smoking void, closer to the sea.
What are you reading?
A Small Circus by Hans Fallada.
How about TV..anything good on the box?
Sorry, I don’t own a TV.
Do you have a favourite Youtube video?
Neil Young singing ‘A Day In The Life’ live from Glastonbury.
What is your favourite:
Neil Young’s Harvest.
Any song from that record, I can’t choose.
Lost classic song?
‘Bruach na Carraige Báine’ by Begley & Cooney.
I don’t really keep an eye on labels to be honest.
Who is your favourite current artist?
Fat White Family.
A new artist that you’re most excited about?
What was the last great gig you saw?
I went to see a theatre show at the Citizens in Glasgow called ‘In Time O’Strife’ and the band/songs were amazing.
What should we expect from your live shows?
A collective attempt at relaxation and a sharing in the hair of the dog. Gold shoes.
Iain Morrison’s new album Eas is available now.
