Who are you and where are you from?

Hiya, we’re GO WOLF.  Scott, Chris, Steve and Hannah. All based in Belfast.  Scott is answering the questions.

Who are your favorite artists from home?

More Than Conquerors and Alana Henderson.

What’s it really like touring?

Well we haven’t toured per se, but did spend some time playing shows in New York in October. So I guess we’re not really in a position to comment on touring life, but travelling with the rest of the guys has been one of my favourite experiences with GO WOLF and something we’re really excited about doing more of. For some reason I love airports, so that side of it’s great.

What’s your favourite city/town/venue to play?

New York and Dublin.

What’s your ideal festival line-up?

The Roots, d’Angelo, Mø, Ghostface Killah, Action Bronson, Shy Girls, Shigeto, Broken Social Scene, Feist.

What has been your biggest achievement of the year?

For 2014, playing at Tennent’s Vital in support of Bastille and the Killers was massive. Easily the biggest crowd we’ve played to.

What was the worst piece of advice you were given?

You’re too old to start a band.

What do you do to relax?

If we’re hanging out together, usually go for a beer or sit in and listen to whatever rare vinyl Chris has found that week. Personally I’m a podcast person. I like NPR’s This American Life.

What are you reading?

Jpod by Douglas Coupland.

How about TV, anything good on the box?

I can’t wait for the next series of Parks & Recreation. And the new season of Girls is pretty good.

Do you have a favourite YouTube video?

It’s not YouTube as such, but my go to internet videos are Jerry Seinfeld’s Comedian’s In Cars Getting Coffee.

What website do you visit most?

Outside of Google, The Guardian website. Mostly for football scores.

What is your favourite:

Always hard but as a go to this year, it has been Chet Faker’s Built Like Glass. Of all time? Stars – Set Yourself On Fire

The Notorious B.I.G – Juicy

Lost classic song?

Love Will Keep Us Together by The Captain & Tenille

Record label?

XL or Future Classic.

Who is your favourite current artist?

I was in Perth in November and stumbled upon the great Australian hip-hop scene that’s happening at the moment. Coin Banks and L-Fresh the Lion are favourites at the moment.

A new artist that you are most excited about?

A singer-songwriter-producer from Australia via Switzerland (I think!) called Anders. He only has two songs out but they are great – really chilled beats with an amazing falsetto and great guitar.

What was the last great gig you have seen?

Mø when we supported her at the academy in Dublin – so much energy and charisma and a great band playing with her.

Worst show?

We’ve played some stinkers but nothing that isn’t par for the course for a new band. Even when you’re playing your best you can’t account for the audience being into it, or for all your gear working etc. but I guess that’s what makes gigging exciting – you never know for sure when you’re gonna have a great one or a shitty one.

What should we expect from your shows?

Hopefully a balance of all the elements you hear in our records – nuanced, thoughtful lyricism with danceable energy. We’ve really grown to love playing live and each show is different, hopefully all great ones.

GO WOLF will release their highly anticipated new EP ‘Running’ on the 10th of March.  You can also catch them play this coming Saturday, 14th of February in Chromatic at The Woodworkers, Belfast.  Better still, it’s absolutely free.
