Who are you and where are you from?

We are The Mariannes, we’re from all over the shop – but based in Dublin right now.

Who are your favorite artists from home?

I Draw Slow, Handsome Handsome, The Hot Sprockets, Tupelo, Red Sail.

What’s it really like touring?

Ask us when we’ve done it and we’ll let ya know… Hang on, are you guys offering us a tour…? (Not just yet… Ed)

What’s your favourite city/town/venue to play?

Dublin (so far), but we’re getting braver and moving outside the Pale more and more.

What’s your ideal festival line-up?

A good mix of rootsy, acoustic acts on intimate stages, all genres of Folk.

What has been your biggest achievement of the year?

The title track from our upcoming EP ‘Lost with All Hands’ won an inaugural Clancy Brothers Award in 2014, and we were selected to play on the up and coming bands stage at The Ballyshannon Folk Festival.

What was the worst piece of advice you were given?

Forget making money and follow your dreams…

What do you do to relax?

Avoid rehearsals.

What are you reading?

We’re all currently reading Catcher in the Rye, as an experiment.

How about TV, anything good on the box?

Anything with zombies/adult romance in there…

We’re excitable most of the time.

Dolly Parton at the 3 Arena, The Naked and Famous at the Olympia.

Worst show?

{Joe} Anything I’ve ever seen with Shia LeBeouf in it.

What should we expect from your Irish shows?

They’re abit like going to see Cirque du Soleil, minus the acrobatics.

The Mariannes will be playing as a part of Pleasing Features gig tomorrow night at The Workman’s Club from 19.30. Pleasing Features will be held upstairs every Monday night (free) and on the first Monday of each month in the Main Venue.
