I am John Blek from Cork.

I play with a lady called Anna Mitchell a lot and she’s great!

What’s it really like touring?

Late nights, early starts, loads of waiting around but it’s great performing for new audiences every night and meeting new people. Sampling the produce of the local boozer is always a pleasant experience.

What’s your favourite city/town/venue to play?

I had the opportunity to play in Cork Opera House recently opening up for Mick Flannery and I really enjoyed that. A pleasure to perform in a room that’s built for performance. Also I have big love for Cleere’s, Kilkenny and Coughlan’s in Cork.

Watching The Fall right now and it’s pretty intense.

I watch an inordinate amount of KEXP live sessions, I’m a bit of a guitar geek as well and find myself caught in a never ending spiral of watching Rig Run Downs.
