Who are you and where are you from?
My name is Rebekka Karijord, and I’m from northern Norway.
Who are your favourite artists from your hometown?
I live in Sweden, where there’s lots of great musicians. To mention some favorites; Fever Ray, Jose Gonzales, Ane Brun, Linnea Olsson, af Scherp…
What’s it really like touring?
Fun and hard. Not much sleep and long car rides in a crowded bus or van. But so rewarding to meet the audience and play my music.
What’s your favourite city/town/venue to play?
What’s your ideal festival line-up?
That would be an eclectic mix of Eliott Smith, Arthur Russell, Robert Wyatt, Nina Simone, Björk, Alarm Will Sound and PJ Harvey.
Tell us a tour story…
I was playing this beautiful, old theatre once. It was sold out and very sophisticated, with a sitting audience. It was super silent when the velvet drape went up, and tilted my hand built precious harp over from its stand, making an extremely loud feedback sound. It made the whole audience scream, and I rushed to the harp and -in panic- pulled out the cable, which created an even worse sound of course. So total punk, but not quite what I wished for.
What has been your biggest achievement of the last year?
When it comes to my music, I think my album We Become Ourselves is my biggest achievement. Personally I regained contact with some persons I thought I had lost, which feels really good.
What do you do to relax?
What are you reading?
Right now I’m reading the short story collection The Boat by a Vietnamese guy called Nam Le. Brilliant.
How about TV, anything good on the box?
I don’t have a tv, but watch series on my computer quite a lot. The latest was Boardwalk Empire.
What’s the last thing you bought online?
Music, I guess.
Who would you most like to collaborate with if you got the chance?
What is the worst cover your band has ever performed?
I don’t think we’ve ever performed the shitty covers, they wouldn’t make it out of the rehearsal space. However I seem to recall that I once did a not very successful James Brown song when I was 16.
Have you ever trashed your equipment? When and why?
Well, It must be that precious harp of mine…
What website do you visit most?
News sites and social medias for my music. I don’t have private accounts anymore, it took too much time and focus.

Ah! by Linnea Olsson
‘Caught A long Wind’ by Feist
….Lost classic song?

A new artist that you are most excited about?
