Incoming: King Harvest & The Weight

Who are you and where are you from?

Hello, we’re King Harvest & The Weight from the sunny micro-climate of Halifax, West Yorkshire in England. We are enthusiasts of loud noise. We’ve just released our debut album Maps.

Who are your favourite artists from home?

Tough one! There’s a lot of great stuff going on at the moment. All exciting. At the moment

What has been your biggest achievement of the year?

Writing and recording the album!

What has been the worst moment of the year?

Losing Bowie & then Prince. Sad times!

What was the worst piece of advice you were given?

Chewing on a clove of garlic is good for your voice. Maybe it is, but to suck and chew Garlic is demented.

What do you do to relax?

What are you reading?

I’m currently reading Kenny Everett’s biography. It’s bloody hilarious.

How about TV, anything good on the box?

Home & Away. Classic Australian soap. I’m hooked on just how much crime goes on in one small place. Peaky Blinders is also up there.

What website do you visit most?

Le Blogetheque. Amazing music on tap.

What is your favourite Record?

Today, it is Graceland by Paul Simon.

Record label?

Atlantic & Earache Records.

Who is your favourite current artist?

Constantly spinning Jackson Browne at the moment. Recapping the magic he had going on.

A new artist that you are most excited about?

Loving Ryley Walker, Charles Bradley’s new record is tip top. Also loving Whitney. Great fresh summery tunes.

What was the last great gig you have seen?

I’d have to say…. Hands down Rival Sons at Holmfirth Picturedrome

Worst show?

Adam Lambert with Queen. Absolutely dreadful. It was like watching Paul O’Grady playing with two old men who really should stop destroying Queen’s legacy.

What should we expect from your Irish shows?

A good thorough pummelling for your ears and barrels of energy. And of course selling lovely merch to you. We highly recommend you purchase some.

King Harvest & The Weight play Dublin’s Grand Social tomorrow, July 3rd. Miss at your peril…
