Track Premiere: Michael Mormecha – Family

For most, the name Michael Mormecha is synonymous with Mojo Fury, the Belfast-based alt-rock outfit who have practically dominated the chat of the city’s indie scene for years now, but having produced records for The Bonnevilles, Malojian and Runaway GO to name a few, Mormecha is, in his own right, a bit of a master behind the desk.

It’s unsurprising, then, that his first, self-produced solo effort, should sound so accomplished. In an exclusive first reveal, State has been given access to share ‘Family’, the lead track from Mormecha’s debut long-player LOFi LiFE, and it’s an impressive cut of alt-pop lushness. Melodic, sharp and with a depth that rivals the likes of Sia, Ariel Pink or Conan Mocasin, ‘Family’ surely precedes a wider collection of intelligent and compelling compositions. Get stuck in.

LOFi LiFE is released May 2016 via Swallow Song Records, but you can contribute to the album in return for a number of excellent incentives over on Michael’s Pledge Music campaign page (link here).
