There are few things more delicate than porcelain and a raft made of porcelain paints a fragile, if buoyant, picture. For the past few months, Porcelain Raft, have released some of the most beautifully delicate and fragile pieces of dream-pop. An Italian in London, Mauro Remiddi started off scoring short films before turning his attention to songs of heartbreak made of keyboards and subtle electronics with a psychedelic flair.
Prolific to say the least, Mauro has already released three EPs in 2010 (streaming from his bandcamp or at the bottom of this page). His latest EP, Gone Blind, has been released on the Acephale label (home of SALEM, CFCF and Pure Ecstasy) and the lead track ‘Tip of Your Tongue’ is a hushed hypnotic love song.
Remiddi also makes his own videos, all viewable on his excellent blog which also works as a gig diary. They are homemade jobs but fully effective, ‘Stained Glass’ has clips of extroverted 80s metal/hair bands, at complete odds with the introspective content of the tune …
… while ‘Dragonfly’ has clips of dancing musicians and cityscapes.
