Special: State & Hope present We Shall Overcome

A weekend designed to celebrate music and culture as well as a show of support for those who are struggling to cope on the current political and financial landscape, We Shall Overcome is a series of events organised by like minded groups and individuals across Ireland and the UK. State felt the need to play our part so have teamed up with the legendary Hope Promotions to present our own show at the Grand Social on Sunday 4th October.

One of a number of fundraising shows taking place in reaction to recent events, ours will look to home as well as abroad and support three groups – Dublin Simon Community, March For The Homeless and Dublin Calais Refugee Solidarity. Entry will be via donation of cash and also selected items (female toiletries for Simon, non-perishable food items for March For The Homeless).

As for the music, well we’ve decided to unite two of the musical communities that we have a long standing relationship with – punk and hip-hop – on one unique bill featuring Dah Jevu (pictured above by Olga Kuzmenko), Fierce Mild, Damola, M(h)aol and Anti-One. In addition we’ll be joined by long time Simon Community supporters Young Hearts Run Free on DJ duties and Nialler9’s Vinyl Love.

Hope to see you there.
