Mix: Top Story: State.ie Mixtape – Something for the weekend

Here’s a mixtape of free-to-download tracks that have been knocking around the State HQ for the past couple of weeks. By way of a house-keeping exercise we feel the need to bring them to your attention.

It’s a fairly relaxed set, starting with Junip, Jose Gonzalez’ foray into the pop-rock spectrum, some psych-pop from Spirituals and Fiveng, choice remixes of Caribou and Twin Sister, the stripped back coolness of Dan Sartain, as well as some old-school hip-hop from Missisipi’s Big K.R.I.T. There’s a super-catchy (warning: potentially grating) tune from The Like with a clever retort from Yawn, some sunny bounciness from Born Ruffians, new-wave atmospherics by School of Seven Bells and The Acorn get the full Four Tet treatment. This is all nicely wrapped up with some scuzzy guitar from Gauntlet Hair and a mini-dirge from Nikoo.
