Top Story: SXSW 2011 preview and playlist

The 25th year of the South by Southwest festival is already underway in Austin, Texas.

SXSW Interactive started on Friday 11th of March and will continue up until the 15th featuring presentations and workshops on emerging technologies and digital works.

The SXSW Film festival runs for 9 days hosting interactive presentations, panels and premieres including this Spike Jonze & Arcade Fire short movie.

The music festival starts on Tuesday 15th and has over 2000 acts playing, including a planned performance from Kanye West in a nearby power station … of course.

There are a number of Irish acts taking a trip to The Lone Star State this year including Adebisi Shank, Funeral Suits, General Fiasco, Halves, Ham Sandwich, James, Vincent McMorrow, Kormac’s Big Band, Lafaro, O Emperor, Oh Ruin, Pierce Turner, R.S.A.G., Ram’s Pocket Radio, Sacred Animals, Sweet Jane, The Lost Brothers, The Mighty Stef and The Minutes.
