Who are your favorite artists from your hometown?
Sure it would have to be Joe Dolan. There’s no show like a Joe show!
What’s it really like touring?
Best part of the job! Playing live is what we love most and being on tour has given us an opportunity to play some weird and wonderful new places and experience a lot of different cultures which is great. The bus has become almost like a second home to us and while it’s not all that glamorous when you are driving for days, getting up on stage at the end of a journey makes it all worthwhile.
What’s your favourite city/town/venue to play?
We have been fortunate enough to play in some cool cities around the UK and Europe and while playing a hometown show in Mullingar is always special, we always look forward to a gig in Cork. The people down there have really got behind this band and every show we play there just always seems to have a bit of magic.
What’s your ideal festival line-up?
Three headliners would be The Strokes, Springsteen, and Arcade Fire.
Tell us a tour story…
Just a few days ago we got home from Europe after playing a couple of festivals in the Netherlands and France, but we nearly didn’t get there! Our van broke down in Dublin port before we left, so we had to be towed onto the ferry. There were a few anxious moments but we got there in the end.
What has been your biggest achievement of 2016 so far?
We headlined Vicar Street in Dublin in March on the back of our debut EP Loose Friends. That was a massive night for us.
What was the worst piece of advice you were given?
We were told that we needed to play covers when we were starting out to get good gigs. We didn’t listen. Terrible advice!
What do you do to relax?
We’re all big football fans so we love a lazy Sunday in front of the tv.
What are you reading?
1984 by George Orwell!
How about TV, anything good on the box?
Peaky Blinders, Game of Thrones, Always Sunny in Philadelphia!
Do you have a favourite YouTube video?
Catcerto. It has us in stitches every time.
What is your favourite:
Record of the moment?
The new James Blake record. It’s brilliant.
Song of the moment?
‘Conqueror’ by Aurora. Insanely catchy.
Lost classic song?
‘These days’ by Nico.
That’s a tricky one, can we say our own, Room 6 records?
A new artist that you are most excited about?
We loved Courtney Barrett’s debut album. Can’t wait to see what she does next.
What was the last great gig you went to?
We were all at The Boss in Croke Park. Enough said!
Worst show ever?
Probably some of the pub gigs we did when we were first starting the band! Some nights we’d be playing to only the bar staff.
What should we expect from your upcoming shows?
A lot of energy and loud guitars.
