Introducing: The Mariannes

Already a name to be reckoned with on the folk and trad circuit thanks to their ‘Lost With All Hands’ track winning the inaugural songwriting contest at the Clancy Brothers’ Festival in 2014, The Mariannes launch their similarly titled debut EP at Whelans this Thursday. Like State Faces of 2015 Old Hannah, the five piece draw on music from both sides of the Atlantic as inspiration for their urban folk. Deliciously dark with hints of the Walkabouts and the countrified end of the Rolling Stones, they’re too good to remain a secret for much longer.
