Dublin musician, Paddy Hanna is a truly marvellous talent. His lyrics, past and present, have touched on mental health (Hanna recently performed at one of First Fortnight’s Therapy Sessions at the start of the year) as well as documenting the tomfoolery of being in your twenties. There is always variety in Hanna’s music – often branded as melancholic pop- we are treated to witty words paired with wonderful orchestral arrangements as well as profound reflective compositions, showcasing the breadth of his musicianship.
Paddy has just shared his latest single, ‘Bad Boys’, a reintroduction to Hanna since his captivating 2015 single, ‘Austria.’ Similar to its predecessor, ‘Bad Boys’ is an infectious orchestral song that is addictive within the first thirty-seconds of listening. Everything you could want in a song is present in his latest offering; strings, 1960s influences and fun lyrics exclaiming the universality of a bad boy, “We all have one of those in our life.” With his repertoire Paddy is one of the good ones, though.
Paddy Hanna will play a headline show in Dublin on the 5th of May in Whelan’s. Tickets available, here.
