The last time we staged a big benefit show it was in a cathedral with a choir, so it’s nice to go down a different path for tonight’s We Shall Overcome: Hard Hitting Songs For Hard Hit People. Bringing together the hip-hop and DIY punk communities, it’s just one of 243 gigs in 121 towns in 8 countries on 3 continents – all supporting local homeless charities (read the full story here). Our gig will be raising funds and items for the Dublin Simon Community, March For The Homeless and the Dublin Calais Refugee Solidarity Group.
We’re delighted to announce that The Winter Passing (pictured by Olga Kuzmenko), having just launched their splendid debut album A Different Space Of Mind over the weekend, are joining the bill. Here’s the full line-up and stage times:
7.15pm – 7.45pm: Homecomings
8pm – 8.30pm: Damola
8.45pm – 9.15pm: M(h)aol
9.30pm – 10pm: Anti-One
10.15pm – 10.45pm: The Winter Passing
11pm – 11.30pm: Dah Jevu
In addition our good friends Young Hearts Run Free will be DJing from 6pm and Nialler9 has put together a marvellous Vinyl Love selection, with Aidan Kelly, Claire Beck, Eoin Monaghan, Phil Udell (State.ie), Niall McGuirk (Hope), Mark Sherlock and Nialler9 himself all spinning their vinyl singles of choice in the beer garden from 7.30pm.
All we ask in return is that you come along, make a minimum donation of €5 plus bring a female toiletry for the Simon Community and non-perishable food item for March For The Homeless.
