If high octane arcade racing, rather than realism, is your idea of a good time, then you could do far worse than spend some time with MotorStorm: Apocalypse. The second word in the title refers to the fact that it’s not just dastardly designed tracks that you’re up against this time around, but the elements themselves, as earthquakes and tornadoes do their best to tear you off the road. Set in an abandoned city, the game sees you taking on the roles of three very different adrenaline junkies on a variety of machines (from quads to monster trucks), as you career through a host of tracks. OK, so the storyline is as ridiculous as The Fast & The Furious, but when you sit behind the wheel of one of these mean machines, intricacies of plot mean very little. It’s fast, frantic and furious: exactly what you want from an arcade racer. Fun but fairly forgettable fare.
