Having discovered their cover version of Inner City’s ‘Good Life’ buried deep in a 6 hour Mr Scruff mix, we were instantly on The Google tracking them down. Some deft sleuth work and frenzied emailing later and Brassroots were booked for Friday March 4th at HSSH in The Twisted Pepper.

Riding the crest of the live brass wave, 9 piece ensemble Brassroots are instant feel good vibes and energy, easily holding their own with Hot 8 & Hypnotic. Formed by US trombonist Jerome Harper a year and a bit ago, they’ve already done Bestival, Lovebox, Glasto, The London Jazz Festival and Scala. They were bubbling under with a few EPs of original tracks and covers of the likes of Radiohead, White Stripes, Michael Jackson and then The Good Life EP dropped, lit up the iTunes download charts and the title song becoming an anthemic cover of epic proportions.

The guys are pure energy, just look at their vids from the festivals below, and we’re totally chuffed to have them play their Irish debut at HSSH in The Twisted Pepper next month and hopefully will see some of you down. Support comes from local turntable wizard Handsome Paddy and Joma. Forward Slash host the basement with Absys Records hosting their end of tour party in the Mezz. for more details
