Clockwork Apple returns to upstairs Whelans this coming January 14th with a line up of unique, melodic pop acts guaranteed to perk up anyone suffering the winter blues!
Little xs for eyes take the headline spot after a spellbinding performance during November’s Weekender, where they showcased a batch of new songs that are currently being recorded for release later this year. When seen live, little xs for eyes’ multi layered vocals and instrumentation evoke a wonderful energy & ambience, complete with both male and female melodies, glittering touches of glockenspiel, guitar, keyboards and tasteful percussion.
Henrietta Game write bittersweet songs about life that make your feet tap to the beat, while the lyrics catch your imagination. Hotpress have called them bewitching and praised the band for always thinking outside of the box – a singular label such as “folk” or “pop” just doesn’t quite do the songs justice. With a lead single like Berlin, Henrietta Game are definitely ones to watch this year.
Norabelle hail from Dundalk and consist of Ken Clarke & Shane O’Hanrahan. Their minimalist sound centers around the duo’s dulcet vocals whilst being back up with delicate hand picked guitars and mellow piano lines. Songs like Pins and Needles and Lemon were captured perfectly with 2010’s EP release “Come The Bluest Dawn” described by Hotpress as having “much to love here”.
Friday January 14th – 8pm – Admission €10
