“He played live at Annie Mac Presents and had a barbershop quartet singing harmonies, plus trombones, trumpets and a double bass. He was scratching – it was the most bizarre setup I’ve ever seen, but it really works.” – Annie Mac (BBC Radio 1)

“Reminds me of a cross between Kid Koala and Fingathing” – DJ Food (Ninja Tunes)

“Kormac’s stuff rocks – I’m a big fan of what he’s doing right now… clear dancefloor bangers” – DJ Yoda

Scribble Records have announced the release date for the debut album from flagship artist Kormac. Word Play features DJ Yoda, DJ Cheeba (Solid Steel) Koaste (Black Grass,) Messiah J & The Expert and MC Little Tree.

Championed by the likes of Annie Mac, DJ Food, and Mr Scruff, a long player from Kormac has been much anticipated since the 2007 release of his Scratch Marchin’ EP and subsequent Good Lord and Show Time releases.

Kormac’s Big Band are a 10-piece group that perform his tracks. On stage you’ll find a mix of brass, a barbershop quartet, turntables, banjo, double bass, drums, live visuals and the occasional guest vocalist. They’ve recently performed on DJ Yoda’s Magic Cinema tour and on the Annie Mac presents tour. Recent highlights include playing to 2000 people at London’s HMV Forum and on Electric Picnic’s main stage.

Kormac DJs internationally with recent shows in the UK, Switzerland, Italy, Bulgaria, Austria and The Ukraine.

He also curates and runs his own club night – Kormac’s Bakesale – at the Twsied Pepper (Dublin) and Cuba (Galway) where he invites his favourite acts and also his favourite Irish bakers along to show off their buns.

Kormac and co. will be playing several of the bigger national and international festivals this summer and will also be heading out on tour with Beardyman.
