Leftfield – Tripod, Dublin

Undisputed highlight of the Electric Picnic music festival this summer, Leftfield are returning to do an intimate indoor show before the year ends in Tripod on Saturday the 11th December.

Their iconic debut album firmly sealing them a place as pioneers of dance music in the early 90’s, Leftfield carved a path for all those who followed including Underworld, The Chemical Brothers and The Prodigy. ‘Leftism’ to this day continuously tops the ‘Best Dance Album of all Time’ polls as well as being nestled very deeply in the hearts of a generation. Renowned for being one of the loudest acts on the planet, their live shows are the stuff of legend. As those who saw them at Electric Picnic this year have testified in the feedback after the festival; “An extraordinary show”… “Electrifying!”

“For the oldsters, it was a trip down memory lane, while the newbies could finally see what all the fuss was about…it was the full-throttle alien techno squawk of Phat Planet that made many realize just how much they’d missed this lot” Jim Caroll, The Times

In response to the immense goodwill towards the band Neill Barnes says; “Obviously it’s nostalgia on one level and I wholeheartedly accept that. Initially, it was weird. Last night felt wonderful. You can’t get too carried away by the bravado… for years I didn’t listen to any of it. It was the last century when those tracks first came out!”

Their first show in 10 years at Tripod earlier this year made grown men cry. Their return to Tripod on Sat 11th December is one more opportunity to experience the magic.
