O Emperor biography

“After one listen, its melodic layers, spooky atmospherics and straight-down-the-line- harmonies make you yearn to hear more……one to add to your must-see list for 2010” ( Irish Times)

“This is going to be a thrilling year for O Emperor and also for audiences who have yet to discover the Waterford band…………….there’s going to be quite a fuss about these guys in the coming months.”
(Eamon Carr – Evening Herald)

O Emperor appeared to burst onto the scene with the release of their debut single “PO” in October 2009, a jangly mid paced song named Single of the Fortnight in Hot Press.

“I don’t know who this Po bloke is, but his story is nothing short of genius”
(Hot Press)

Reality is it was the culmination of years of hard work. Renowned for their sumptuous live performances, O Emperor were already building a staunch fan base; in 2009 they headlined the New Band Stage at Oxegen and were considered to be the band of the moment at the Hard Working Class Heroes Festival.

There followed their signing to Universal Music Ireland with the first release in May 2010, a four track EP “Reverie” led with the sublime “Don’t Mind Me”.

2010 saw O Emperor touring Ireland and the UK in their own right and as guests of Mumford and Sons; they made their second appearance at Oxegen and will also be on the stage at Electric Picnic. The band is currently on tour in Germany, where they will play their first session on German national radio, this will be followed by UK dates.

Hard working O Emperor also found time to record their highly anticipated debut album “Hither Thither” which will be released on Universal Music Ireland on October 1st.
