Second Square to None is a collaborative project focused on highlighting Irish-based artists in the fields of music, design and visual art. Their current monthly Sunday afternoon events showcase ambient, downbeat and noise acts, accompanied by projections and live painting.

Ten Second Rule

The Ten Second Rule project is an experiment in community participation, attention span and digital media recycling. Music makers have been asked to submit 10 second long audio compositions ‘š in whatever style they wish. The pieces can be appreciated as standalone musical explorations of a mere moment in time or they can be viewed as source material for use in larger compositions and improvisations, where a ten second track could become the basis of a 20-30 minute live performance.

By way of demonstrating this approach, Second Square to None have asked five artists/collectives to re-interpret the submissions received for their live performances at DEAF. Turntables, modular synthesizers, granular synthesis and numerous other processes will be applied to recycle material from the communal audio pool.
