Von Shakes – The Academy 2, Dublin

Von Shakes plus support at The Academy 2
Friday 9th October 8pm
Fresh from the studio after putting the finishing touches to their debut
album due out in the New Year, Von Shakes take to the stage at The
Academy 2 on October 9th 2009, doors 7.30pm.

In the tradition of other great northside Dublin bands, Von Shakes formed
in school and grew up listening to classic rock such as Thin Lizzy and Led
Zeppelin. This is evident in the organic way with which they play and write
their powerful music. Added to this is a punk like energy, which connects
with their loyal live following.

Singer guitarist Paddy Brazel is a front man with mesmerising presence.
In the rock tradition of legends such as Phil Lynott and Rory Gallagher he
sings with melody and grit combined in equal measures. Lead guitarist
Hugh O’Reilly creates instrumental sound-scapes that draw from blues
influences to punk and psychedelia. Backed with the dynamic rhythm
section of Cillian McSweeny (bass) and Aaron Masterson (drums), Von
Shakes are bound for festival success.

With an ever-growing list of credits to their name including the Top 15 of
Hot Press’ the Next Big Thing and runners up in Emergenza National Finals
at Vicar Street 2009…..Von Shakes are definitely living up to their
reputation as one of Ireland’s most promising new bands.
