Talulah Does The Hula / Disconnect 4

It was a night of unusual glamour at the Purty Loft on Friday night when we welcomed Talulah Does The Hula into the State house for the evening. Buzzing on the back of their single launch the night before, the Talulahs (the Hulas?) proved that they’ve come a long way from when State saw their tentative first outing in support to Messiah J & The Expert last year. First though they brought Galway’s Disconnect 4 along for the ride, another band celebrating the release of their debut single but an altogether more noisy, guitar driven affair; albeit with some neat synth touches. Keep an eye out for them.

As for Talulah Does The Hula, the five piece are very much starting to find their feet. With the four strong front line swapping instruments and lead vocals on almost every song, their set is already heavy on alternative pop tunes such as ‘Brick For A Brain’, ‘Order’, ‘Those Girls’ and the single ‘Bad Boyfriend’. To top it off they encored with a killer version of En Vogue’s ‘My Lovin’, including drummer Michael on ‘now it’s time for a breakdown’ duty. Join us at the Purty on Saturday night for more State presents…. fun with Sweet Jane and The Ambience Affair.
