Natalie Merchant set for Whelan’s gig

American singer-songwriter Natalie Merchant has stayed out of the spotlight for a few years, but the former 10,000 Maniacs singer is back this year with a new album and a world tour, including a show at Whelan’s in Dublin on Monday, 25 January.

Merchant took a break from recording and touring after the birth of her daughter in 2003, but used the time to research, write and record her fifth solo album. Leave Your Sleep is a collection of songs adapted from the works of various classic and contemporary poets, released next month.

Tickets for Merchant’s Whelan’s show are on sale now for €20 including booking fee, from Ticketmaster and usual outlets nationwide.
