8Radio launches this weekend

It wasn’t so long ago that Steven Dunne was bemoaning the state of Irish radio, so it’s a pleasure to report that this Friday will see the entry of a new player into the market. 8Radio is the brainchild of Phantom 105.2 founder Simon Maher and claims to be “aimed at capturing listeners who have been lost by traditional radio to streaming and online music services”.

Launching on Friday night at Midnight, 8Radio.com will be brought to listeners through a variety of platforms, including live Internet streaming, Smartphone Applications, and a temporary FM license. From March 30th it will broadcast live in Dublin, Cork and Limerick and will run every Saturday and Sunday until July 7th. FM frequencies are 94.3FM in Dublin, 105.5FM in Limerick and 106.7FM in Cork.

We wish them well.
