If there were any fairness in the world, we’d be talking about Angel Haze in the same breath as the likes of Nicki Minaj and Azealia Banks. Her debut album Dirty Gold was released in December 2013 and featured contributions from the likes of Gil Scott-Heron, Jake Gosling, Rudimental, Sia and Greg Kurstin, and was arguably just as good as The Pinkprint or Broke With Expensive Taste.
However, Dirty Gold wasn’t due for release until March 2014, getting leaked on purpose by Haze herself during a bout of frustation with her then-label Island Records. Since then she’s been caught up in endless contractual red-tape, but that hasn’t stopped her from releasing new music. With new mix-tape Classick due out on October 25th, Haze has dropped ‘Babe Ruthless’ as it’s primary single, so hopefully this will be the first step towards the recognition she so clearly deserves.
