Even though it has been a resounding critical success the Dún Laoghaire Festival of World Cultures has been scrapped. In recent years the festival has grown in stature amongst artists and revelers becoming a marked favourite on the festival calender bringing a collage of folk, traditional, eclectic, tribal, digital and experimental music, performances and workshops.
Despite an online campaign to save it, the Irish Independent reports that the festival will be replaced with “a smaller series of public events, with a budget of €400,000, including a 10km road race, a model railway expo, and the Dublin Bay Taste and Music Festival.”
