Electric Penguins granted High Court interim injunction against former member

You may have heard about the disagreements that current and former members of Electric Penguins were having with each other in recent times. One incident involved a performance in Tower Records during Hard Working Class Heroes last year. To that effect, the matter was taken to court and today, State received the following statement about the disagreement about an injunction filed today:

Electric Penguins were granted a High Court interim injunction against former member Sean Quinn. Councel for band Willie Ryan B.L instructed by Margetson and Greene solicitors moved the application before Judge Laffoy at the High Court on Wednesday afternoon June 22nd. Mr Quinn is restrained from making any further allegations against the band of copyright infringment, improper name usage, trademark infringement, improper conduct and/or passing off. Councel for the band Willie Ryan B.L outlined to the Court that the band’s management were finding it difficult to conclude deals in the UK and beyond due to Sean Quinn’s actions. This seems to be the first time in Irish law and seldom seen internationally where an act takes legal proceedings over a band name and song copyright against a former member.
