EP streams..Bitches With Wolves, Alice Kona Band

If you needed any further indication of the range of musical talent in this country, two new EP releases this week operate at very opposite ends of the spectrum. Hot on the heels of a busy summer on the festival circuit which culminated in a rousing performance at The Workman’s Club as part of Hard Working Class Heroes earlier this month, Bitches With Wolves – a.k.a. James O’ Neill and pack – have finally released their first batch of material in the from of the Hurricane EP.

Made up of four tracks including live favourites ‘Electric Love’ and ‘Strictly Pleasure’ as well as the current radio hit and Georgio Moroder throwback ‘Hurricane’, the EP charts the rise and fall of a stormy relationship from the drama-filled breakup, through one night stands to the return to a more peaceful and platonic state of mind in the closing track ‘Rewind’. The band will tour Ireland in December.

The Alice Kona Band, meanwhile, are set to release their second EP shark.salem.satan, a brief snapshot into the weird world of the Northern quartet: a Technicolor dash through suicidal Dutch pop stars, serial killers and a girl who got eaten by a shark, all wrapped up in pop hooks, fed through a fuzz box and thrown down a flight of stairs. The EP launches on October 28th, with a show at Belfast’s Animal Disco.
