Belfast based, home-grown reggae outfit Explosion Soundsystem have always had a grass-roots approach to championing Jamaican music. Building their own custom rig, sound equipment, tracks and performances a la the ethos of the DIY, early Jamaican reggae pioneers they take their inspiration from, Belfast’s loudest roots-reggae advocates play host to Ranking Joe in the Black Box, Belfast, this Friday the 23rd, as part of the Cathedral Quarter’s Out To Lunch festival. There will also be a screening of ‘I am the Gorgon: Bunny Striker Lee and the Roots of Reggae’, ensuring that the evening will be a unique retrospective and tribute to the historical musical style. The legendary Kingston vocalist will take the stage alongside the Explosion gang in what’s certain to be unmissable for reggae fanatics or supporters of the arts. Tickets are priced at £12 and are available, along with all the details for the show, here.
