Golden Discs celebrate their 50th birthday with special release

Having first opened their doors in July 1962, Golden Discs at their peak had in excess of 50 stores nationwide and having seen off challenges from chain-stores, mega-stores and the digital age, they are celebrating their milestone by releasing a purposely commissioned compilation album featuring some of traditional Irish music’s biggest names.

Taking tracks from across their 50-year span from artists such as Christie Moore, Ronnie Drew, Planxty, Dolores Keane and Liam Clancy, the album is as much a celebration of Irish heritage music as the longevity of the store itself. The double CD is available from Golden Discs now.
