Grammys 09: Who won…and who got arrested

There was high drama at the Grammys last night, as teenage urban pop sensation Chris Brown ended up, not on the red carpet or performing as scheduled, but detained at the pleasure of the LAPD. Having been called to an alleged domestic abuse incident the night before, Brown turned himself in at 10pm last night. His girlfriend Rihanna – thought to be the subject of the attack and reportedly wounded – also pulled out of the ceremony. Brown was released on €50,000 bail.

Meanwhile, back at the Awards themselves, the big winners were as follows:

Album of the Year – Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, ‘Raising Sand

Record of the Year – Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, ‘Please Read the Letter

Song of the Year – Coldplay, ‘Viva la Vida

Best New Artist – Adele

Best Female Pop Vocal Performance – Adele, ‘Chasing Pavements

Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocals – Coldplay – ‘Viva la Vida

Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals – Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, ‘Rich Woman

Best Dance Recording – Daft Punk, ‘Harder Better Faster Stronger

Best Electronic/Dance Album – Daft Punk, ‘Alive 2007

Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocals -Kings Of Leon, ‘Sex on Fire

Best Metal Performance – Metallica, ‘My Apocalypse

Best Rock Album -Coldplay, ‘Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends

Best Alternative Music Album – Radiohead, ‘In Rainbows

Phew….a big night then for Adele, Robert Plant (putting that Led Zep reunion further out of reach we suspect) and this lot….
