Formerly signed to Rough Trade, HAL enjoyed a fruitful period of success from 2003 to 2007 with lots of European tour and media activity, support slots for Doves and Brendon Benson and popularity in France where they received EBBA (European Border Breakers Award) for most debut record sales outside their home country.
The band’s singer David Allen left Ireland for a couple of years suffering with writer’s block. He returned in 2008 with a lot of new songs after time in Europe and the US performing under pseudonyms. The band got back to work in a newly built recording studio and spent 2010 recording their second album. They are now ready to share the first fruits of that upcoming album The Time, The Hour with a song called ‘Down In The Valley’ via Bandcamp.
