Irish Festival Awards 2009 – The Results

The winners of 2009’s Irish Festival Awards were announced last night in Dublin’s Sugar Club. The award show was hosted by When Under Ether‘s Michelle Doherty which saw a live performance by Dark Room Notes; guest presenters included Jenny Huston and Alison Curtis.

Votes were counted from more than 15,000 festival goers over 20 different categories and the results are as follows.

Best Large Festival: Electric Picnic
Best Medium Festival: Galway Arts Festival
Best Small Festival: Glasgowbury
Greenest Festival: Electric Picnic
Best One-Day Festival: Arthur’s Day
Best New Festival: Arthur’s Day
Best Dance Festival: Life
Best Traditional Festival: Temple Bar Trad
Best Value: Festival of World Cultures
Best Street Spirit: Spraoi
Best Lineup: Glasgowbury
Family Festival Award: Glasgowbury
Social Responsibility Award: Hard Working Class Heroes
Best Service: Glasgowbury
Best Toilets: None, we want real toilets!
Best Headline Act: Kings of Leon
Best Rock Act: Kasabian
Best Dance Act:2 Many Djs
Best Alternative Act: Florence and the Machine
