A longtime staple of both Tom Ravenscroft’s and Mary-Anne Hobbs’ BBC6 Music playlists, Kelpe, AKA Kel McKeown, has been rather quiet for a while. It seems though that despite the lack of a heavy public presence, the electronica producer has been carefully putting together his newest release, and from what we’ve heard so far it’s been worth the wait. ‘Calumet’, the last single to be taken before the release of McKeown’s new album The Curved Line on August 28th (DRUT Recordings), is a rolling, synth-laden excursion and a distinctive aural treat. We’ll have a full review of the new album soon, but for now, get yer ears ’round ‘Calumet’.
