Listen: Tuath – ‘Cuz Why?’

Droning, melodic, hypnotising – all attributes that the experimentally driven psych-rock outfit Tuath have deftly displayed throughout their blossoming career so far. Taken from their upcoming Youth EP, latest offering ‘Cuz Why?’ offers the listener a spiralling hodge-podge of deep and vibrant guitar lines and sombre, bittersweet vocals, all lovingly stirred in the technicolour pot of Rob Mulhern’s mind. A force to be reckoned with on the live stage, the EP was due in March but we’ve been assured it’s coming soon. Which, incidentally, is good news given the aforementioned live presence thing.

Here’s Rob’s take on the track – “This song is about the absurdity of the world we live in today in that information is skewed and unreliable, it is also a vague critique on current power structures at home and abroad, it’s me asking “Cuz why” as if I am a child when I see stupid unapologetic leaders doing inhumane things, the 8th amendment is alluded to in the second verse. Every effort to do good has always been thwarted by evil on a global basis and I am simply so disheartened that I wrote “Cuz why” cuz why the fuck is all this stuff so confusing and fucked up!?”

Indeed.
