M.I.A. opens up about her feud with The New York Times

M.I.A. discusses her experience with the New York Times on US Canadian show George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight.

The feud kicked off early 2010 when the publication ran a profile on Maya in which Lynn Hirschberg wrote:

“I kind of want to be an outsider,” she said [M.I.A], eating a truffle-flavored French fry. “I don’t want to make the same music, sing about the same stuff, talk about the same things. If that makes me a terrorist, then I’m a terrorist.”

  • Laura

George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight is a Canadian show, not American.

  • That’s fixed now Laura, I thought I heard MIA say “here in the US” … I should have verified. Thank you.
