Michelle Shocked plays Whelan’s tonight

Michelle Shocked’s musical career has seen plenty if highs and lows. An original pioneer in the alternative music field, Shocked has continued to follow a path less travelled, preferring an independent life of small venues and benefit concerts over the more fickle world of labels and contracts. When her last label, Private Music, merged with the established Wyndham Hill enterprise, Shocked chose to become even more independent by not re-signing her contract with the new combination. Anyone who has followed Shocked’s career would not be surprised by this maneuver. Her latest album, Soul of my Soul, was released on Mighty Sound.

Michelle plays Whelan’s, Wexford Street tonight (Friday 30th July), doors at 8.30pm with tickets priced at €25.
