Yet another example of a band doing things differently in today’s wallet-tightening musical economy is Belfast band Escape Act and their innovative album release method. Over the course of ten weeks, the band are debuting songs from their first album Loosely Based on Fiction through Irish music sites and blogs.
The band are utilising the Bandcamp service to allow fans to download the album track-by-track and week-by-week until the official release date on 17th November whereupon a limited edition digipak CD with handmade booklet will be available for purchase.
Last week, it was the turn of Cluas’ Key Notes blog to debut the track ‘Laid Open’ and this week it is the turn of State and we graciously accepted.
‘Corpses Candle’ is the sixth of ten tracks on the album Loosely Based on Fiction and like a few of Escape Act’s pre-released songs, reminds us of the indie majesty of Whipping Boy’s Heartworm, and a peer of fellow Belfast band The Jane Bradfords, except perhaps with a bit more spiky vigour than both of those acts.
