MTV EMAs come to Belfast

MTV Europe announced today that the MTV Europe Music Awards will be hosted in Belfast on Sunday the 6th of November at the Odyssey Arena.

Belfast reportedly placed ahead of other cities including Paris, Stockholm, Warsaw and London. Belfast City Council has agreed to contribute £320,000 towards the running of the event, with the awards set to inject a significant boost into the local economy and tourism.

MTV said:

The home of such renowned artists as Snow Patrol and Van Morrison, Belfast has never been a stranger to a red-hot music scene and a vibrant nightlife. We think it’s the perfect backdrop for one of the world’s biggest nights in music and we can’t wait to take over the town!

Last year’s EMAs took place in Madrid. Kings of Leon, Katy Perry, B.O.B, Shakira, Rihanna and Bon Jovi were amongst the performers.
