‘Music Town’ – a new festival for Dublin

We do like a good festival here at State, and Music Town, a new festival running throughout Dublin between April 10th and 19th, looks promising.  Music Town will be spread across venues, similar to the HWCH format, and will feature performances, Q&A’s, talks and DJ sets from the likes of Hank Shocklee (Public Enemy) at The Sugar Club on April 10th, Barrytown Meets MusicTown on April 12th in Vicar Street (a musical and literary celebration of Roddy Doyle’s ‘The Barrytown Trilogy’ curated by Roddy Doyle and Aoife Woodlock, featuring Glen Hansard, Richard Hawley, Imelda May, Colm Meaney, Ger Ryan among others).

Grand Social will host Bowies Piano Man – an intimate evening of music on April 15th, celebrating the work of Bowie’s piano man Mike Garson with special guest Clifford Slapper and there’ll also be a musical walking tour of Dublin, curated by Breaking Tunes, which will feature pop-up performances from some great Irish musicians running on the 11th and 18th of April.

Full details of the run of the events, as well as tickets, can be found here.
