Music Video: Neon Neon – I Lust U

Neon Neon

…In which Gruff and Boom Bip show off their jellyfish.

The song features Welsh songstress Cate le Bon (Some free downloads perhaps?) and is released digitally on 24th March, on 7″, and on 12″ which includes a remix of “Trick For Treat” by musical mechanics Hot Chip and a “I Lust U remix” by Heartbreak. The video was directed by Klaus Thymann in LA.

The album Stainless Style is out on the 17th March and is one of State’s favourites of the year so far. Check out the review of the album in the first issue of State out on Thursday!

Hey is that not animal cruelty? Did the jellyfish die in the end – should there not be a disclaimer saying that no animal was harmed in the making of it? I AM APPALLED AND OUTRAGED.

Songs ace though. Yes he may look like Ryan Giggs (gruff indeed) but he can sure do catchy & very cute pop so well. Love this also. What I liked most about the new vid was the jellyfish pulsing with light, which I found to be a nice motif.

I’ve long been a big fan of another Jellyfish video, that of “Jellyman” by Autamata. Here it is here

That vid was made by Team D.A.D.D.Y., the same chaps behind Jape’s rather excellent Floating vid. It features Cathy Davey on vocals & is well worth a look. To me it’s one of the best Irish music videos I’ve ever seen 🙂

Coincidentally Autamata have a new album out, & there’s a song on it called Cloud Seekers which also features Davey. If you’re into Battles then you might also like this one. There’s a short promo for the album here & the song I mentioned is 2:17 in.

Peace oot dude & congrats on all the awards of late – hope you savoured your winnings. I went with sebp & dc longest choice outsider odds poss so happy days all round!

You’re not wrong about the album. Great stuff altogether. Gruff Rhys certainly is a man of versatile talent. Hope they play the Picnic.

  • I was on the set as the second (brown suited) Jellyfish judge. There were NO jellyfish harmed in the video. There was an actual Jellyfish Wrangler–no joke–on the set the whole time, taking temperature and salinity samples. Had a blast playing an establishment judge with the likes of Boom Bip and Gruff Rhys…and I like the music, too!
