Submissions open for new Dublin Sci-Fi Film Festival

A brand new science fiction film festival will take over Dublin’s city centre from April 28th – 30th, comprised of screenings of new features, documentaries and short films, along with classic science fiction and fantastic features from the vaults.

Heading up the new venture, Dave Desmond, who has been involved with both the Cork Film Festival and Dublin International Film Festival, has said: “As Festival Director of Dublin Sci-Fi Film Festival I want to bring a broad range of international genre-films to the big screen in Dublin to reflect the city’s diverse cultural appetite. With other cities around the world offering major genre-focused festivals like Sci-Fi London Film Festival, Austin’s Fantastic Fest and the Trieste Science+Fiction Festival, I believe that we can provide Dublin audiences with the same calibre of programming in an area that has been overlooked in the past.”

An exciting prospect for fans of all things Sci-Fi, the full programme will be announced shortly, but in the meantime, submissions are open for budding directors. There are no submission fees for 2017 and entries can be sent via the FilmFreeway portal using this link.
