Pete Tong takes out restraining order on one-time Massive Attack singer

Veteran DJ Pete Tong has been granted a restraining order on Shara Nelson. Nelson is a former singer with Massive Attack. The voice of their breakthrough single ‘Unfinished Sympathy’, Shara sang on 10 songs from Massive Attack’s debut record Blue Lines.

In a recent hearing, Pete Tong told the magistrates that Nelson harassed him with nuisance calls and falsely told his BBC colleagues that she was his manager. In court she gave her surname as Tong, claiming she had married the DJ and had a child by him. Tong claimed that here actions have caused “distress and embarrassment.”

Nelson has been banned indefinitely from contacting Tong and his friends and family. She was also given a 12-month community order and 80 hours community service.
